At this meeting, an overview of artistic postgraduate and PhD programs (3rd study cycle) in Europe is given, and best practice examples are presented. How are in such programs artistic projects and artistic research accompanied and promoted? Where are the intersections, where are the differences between artistic and academic or scientific approaches? Cecilia Roos, director of the dance department at DOCH Stockholm, gives a lecture on the impressive developments that have led to a strong promotion of artistic research and PhD programs in Sweden. Nik Haffner—art director at the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Berlin (Inter-university centre Berlin), will report about the working meeting “ARTISTIC NEEDS AND INSTITUTIONAL DESIRES – roundtables on artistic third-cycle programs and research” taking place in Berlin in November 2015, of which were part 18 international artistic postgraduate and PhD programs.
