The archive and collection on the history of dance and contemporary dance is the most comprehensive knowledge reservoir for students and lecturers at the state educational institutions for dance. The objective of the meeting in Cologne is to integrate the dance archive, its work and its inventory into the education concept to a greater degree than before and to optimise the cooperation between archives and educational institutions. For this purpose, the archives and collections that are joined in the VDT propose the foundation of a working group that will work together on the improvement of the cooperation between archives and educational institutions. Possible topics for the working group include: lessons in dance history – reality and future / dance history, source criticism and dealing with digital media / possibilities for communicating archival work and corresponding professions and areas of employment in the context of career information for dancers – aspect: transition / archive and contemporaneity – aspect: dance funding heritage and other forms of artistic confrontation with dance history / forms of support by archives and collection inventories of the educational institutions for dance. The invitation to the discussion and continuous cooperation is directed not only at the heads of the educational institutions, but also quite deliberately at the lecturers and teachers of dance history who work there.
